History
A first cathedral was built in 440, then destroyed by Norman invasions. The building was rebuilt several times during the 11th and 12th centuries. It was again destroyed in 1174 by a fire, then rebuilt in the following century. The choir was completed at the end of the 13th century. Following the destructions of the Hundred Years' War, the building was repaired during the 15th century. The buttresses were put in place in the 16th century. Restoration work was undertaken before the Revolution, then by Victor Ruprich-Robert in 1849.
