Historique

History
The project for the construction of a new church dates from 1840. In 1852, the architect Liger's project was validated. The choice consists in placing the new building beside the old church. The façades were the subject of a late campaign, from 1895 to 1896. The building takes on a classic plan in the form of a Latin cross, projecting transept, choir with ambulatory and radiating chapels. A façade with two towers, not originally foreseen, completes giving it a neo-Romanesque character. On the exterior, alternating coursing of granite, limestone and brick intended to imitate from a distance the effect of mosaic. The interior decorative programme concentrates around the axial chapel of the Virgin. The mosaic is the work of Facchina.
