History

The remains of the old ramparts (three turrets) were remodelled, it appears, in the 19th century, in Henri II style, to make them a decorative element of pleasure at the back of private property. A cubic construction of bricks with stone bands at the corners, rests on a granite supporting wall flanked by two turrets whose overhanging parapet rests on corbels. Further on, is found a third turret similar to the first two, connected to the preceding ones by a granite wall whose upper part has disappeared, except for a short section with three round arches. This is not urban defence work, but decorative work in which, however, defensive concerns were not entirely absent, as evidenced by the loopholes for firearms which pierce the parapet of the turrets.
