Building of Romanesque origin which underwent, over the centuries, alterations and partial reconstructions, the most spectacular of which date from the 16th century. The church was founded in the 11th century. From this period date the clock tower and the apse. In 1425, construction of the Chapel of the Rosary, transformed and enlarged from 1494 to 1499 in the flamboyant Gothic style to form the north aisle. At the same period, construction of the large tower whose ground floor formed the first bays of this aisle. From 1546 to 1552, enlargement of the church to the south, with an independent side nave from the rest of the building. In 1567, the church was sacked then rebuilt in 1583. During the Revolution, it became Temple of Reason. Around 1890, the volumes are modified by the construction of a hollow brick vault over the nave and choir. At this period, installation of Neo-Gothic furnishings. In 1944, all the south windows were destroyed. A vast programme of stained glass was commissioned from Max Ingrand. The empty baldachins of the south façade were filled with contemporary works. Jean Lambert-Rucki created statues. Other artists participated in the creation of works for the building: Paul Cornet, Hubert Yencesse, Paul Belmondo, Raymond Martin.
