One of the first neo-gothic civil buildings constructed in France. In 1844, first project for the enlargement of the 15th century town hall in neo-gothic style by Charles Joly-Leterme and his assistant Piette. 1849: first plans of the overall project. Works carried out between 1858 (laying of the first stone) and 1862 (end of works).
