Historique
Le domaine est voué à la production de café dès 1724. Cette culture perdure jusque vers 1860, mais est progressivement remplacée par celle de la canne à sucre à partir du premier tiers du 19e siècle. Une unité de production de sucre est alors construite et la production de sucre cesse au tout début du 20e siècle. Les bâtiments de lusine construits en contrebas de la maison principale avoisinent la forge domestique et les écuries. La sucrerie appartient à une séquence distributive qui est restée inchangée malgré le changement de vocation du domaine : les fonction sont étagées le long de lallée principale qui monte à la maison en traversant successivement une zone dhabitat peu organisée («kan» des esclaves, puis des engagés) , puis une zone de production (argamasse pour le café, puis usine pour le sucre).£

History
The estate was devoted to coffee production from 1724. This cultivation persists until around 1860, but is progressively replaced by sugar cane cultivation from the first third of the 19th century. A sugar production unit is then constructed and sugar production ceases at the very beginning of the 20th century. The factory buildings constructed below the main house adjoin the domestic forge and the stables. The sugar works belongs to a distributive sequence which remained unchanged despite the change of use of the estate: the functions are tiered along the main avenue which rises to the house, passing successively through a poorly organized residential zone (slave "kan", then indentured labourers), then a production zone (argamasse for coffee, then factory for sugar).
