Historique

History
Châtellenie known from 1460 onwards. In the 18th century, the castle underwent major enlargement works. The central part, characteristic of the 17th century, was demolished and replaced by a building of Italian architecture, preceded towards the entrance courtyard by a colonnade, and topped by a round tower containing the staircase. This new building was destroyed in 1823 and the centre of the main dwelling was reconstructed from 1904 to 1908 by architect A. Coulomb. Two modern low galleries connect the central body to the two lateral pavilions of the 18th century. Two long wings of outbuildings in U-shape close off the whole complex. The estate opens onto the road through a gate flanked by two pavilions built around 1765. Opposite is the large barn. To the west of the main dwelling, the old terrace was transformed, at the end of the 18th century, into an English garden protected from flooding by a levee which abuts to the south against a dressed stone tower. This garden contains a barrel-vaulted ice-house, built by architect Vétault in 1807.
