Of the primitive church of the end of the 11th century, only the lower part of the facade, the chevet and, inside, the capitals at the entrance to the choir would remain. The imprint of the end of the Middle Ages appears in the massive bell tower, arranged in the 14th and then 16th centuries as a guardroom and which served as a fortress. The romanesque church may have been a victim of the Hundred Years' War and the Wars of Religion. The stone vault has disappeared. The lateral walls and the upper part of the western facade appear to have been built in the early 17th century. The differences in masonry show these alterations. The plan of the church is simple and must have remained, on the whole, faithful to the initial plan: a single nave, a circular apse, the bell tower at the junction, between the nave and the apse. The western portal offers a great variety of iconographic themes. Only one column appears on each side of the portal. It is surmounted by capitals carved with mythical animals. At the arch-moulding ring appears a diverse programme. The outer vault presents a succession of S upright and inverted, adorned with fine pearls, coming together at the top and bottom in a palm of foliage. The inner vault bears bearded-head sphinxes, equines, dragons and sorts of basilisks. The massive bell tower was fortified at the end of the Middle Ages. Inside, the nave having lost its vault, was covered with a depressed barrel-vault panelling.
