History

The parish depended on the diocese of Saintes. From the Romanesque period subsist the chevet and the façade, although modified at the time of the raising of the nave in the 14th century. A bell tower in traditional position between nave and choir must have existed in the Romanesque period, and no doubt on square plan. The south wall still preserves the square tower pierced with arrow-slits which contained the access staircase to this former bell tower. The present campanile could date from the 17th century. Two expiatory chapels were still indicated in the 19th century, but no longer exist. The single-nave building has no transept. The choir terminates in an apse and comprises part of the false square under the former bell tower. Inside, the plaster vault dates from the 19th century.
