Des fouilles réalisées au 19e siècle dans le bois dit des Bouchauds, ont mis au jour les restes d'un théâtre gallo-romain. Ce théâtre, élevé sur le flanc d'un coteau qui a servi à l'établissement des gradins, se développe sur un diamètre de 107 mètres. Le pourtour, formé de murs construits en petit appareil, est complet. Les parties mises alors au jour ont permis de distinguer la cavea, l'orchestre, le proscenium, la scène et le postscenium. Les contreforts semi-circulaires soutiennent la poussée des terres à l'extrémité des gradins. Des monnaies, des fragments de sculptures et d'inscriptions, des restes de constructions antiques, trouvés dans les environs de ce monument, témoignent de l'emplacement d'un centre important d'habitations.

History
Excavations carried out in the 19th century in the wood called Bouchauds brought to light the remains of a Gallo-Roman theatre. This theatre, erected on the side of a slope which served for the establishment of the tiered seating, develops over a diameter of 107 metres. The perimeter, formed of walls built in small masonry, is complete. The parts then uncovered made it possible to distinguish the cavea, the orchestra, the proscenium, the stage and the postscenium. Semi-circular buttresses support the pressure of the earth at the end of the tiered seating. Coins, fragments of sculptures and inscriptions, remains of ancient constructions, found in the vicinity of this monument, testify to the location of an important centre of dwellings.
