Historique
Les restes de l'hôtel des seigneurs de Cognac sont peu nombreux. On voit encore une salle voûtée d'ogives prenant départ aujourd'hui sur des consoles. Une fenêtre est en saillie sur un corps de bâtiment dont le rez-de-chaussée n'a pas été modifié. Elle repose sur un soubassement mouluré et étagé avec denticules et dont la partie inférieure porte un motif sculpté. La baie est meublée de pilastres avec chapiteaux à feuilles d'acanthe. Les jambages et le linteau de la baie sont ornés de moulures prismatiques se coupant à la partie supérieure. Les parties latérales portent chacune trois médaillons à contours circulaires et à feuilles et fleurs renfermant le F royal.

History
The remains of the hotel of the lords of Cognac are few in number. One can still see a room vaulted with ribs taking departure today on corbels. A window projects on a building body of which the ground floor has not been modified. It rests on a moulded and stepped base with dentils and of which the lower part bears a sculptured motif. The opening is furnished with pilasters with capitals bearing acanthus leaves. The jambs and lintel of the opening are adorned with prismatic mouldings cutting each other at the upper part. The lateral parts each bear three medallions with circular contours and with leaves and flowers containing the royal F.
