The church was given in 1155 to the abbey of Saint-Victor in Marseille by the bishop of Mende. It formed part of the priory of Monastier. In 1562, the church was burned by the Calvinists, the bells melted and the town dismantled. In its essential part, the church is Romanesque of the 12th century and comprises: a nave with two aisles terminated by a semi-circular apse on the outside and pentagonal on the inside. There is no transept. The original plan should have comprised, at the ends of the aisles, two semi-circular apses. The north apse was replaced, in the 15th century, by a chapel. The south apse seems never to have been built but replaced by a porch tower. Several modifications took place in the 14th century. Added were a low bay to the west of the nave; to the west of the south aisle, a low bay with a high bay above it; a gallery supported on these low bays and on strong piers extending into the second Romanesque bay. To the north, two chapels as well as the vault of the last bay of the south aisle were remade at this time. Other modifications were made in the 15th century: a south chapel in place of the north apse and two storeys to the bell tower. This porch tower has a particular location, built on the last eastern bay of the south aisle. At its base, opens the round-arch portal.
