Historique
D'après les écussons sculptés sur la façade, il s'agissait probablement d'une résidence bourgeoise. L'immeuble touchait aux anciens remparts, à proximité de la porte nord. L'immeuble primitif devait être plus étendu vers le nord et devait occuper tout l'espace compris entre la rue de Verdun et l'ancien rempart. L'escalier, à gauche de la parcelle 698, devait s'élever au milieu de la façade primitive. Cet escalier est une vis à droite, enfermée dans une tourelle circulaire qui fait légèrement saillie sur la façade. Cette paroi circulaire est construite en carreaux basaltiques bien parementés. According to the escutcheons sculptured on the façade, it was probably a bourgeois residence. The building adjoined the old ramparts, close to the north gate. The original building must have been more extensive to the north and must have occupied the entire space between rue de Verdun and the old rampart. The staircase, to the left of plot 698, must have risen in the middle of the original façade. This staircase is a spiral staircase to the right, enclosed in a circular turret which projects slightly from the façade. This circular wall is constructed of well-dressed basalt tiles. The ribs of the interior frames and mullions intersect at the angles. The small columns rest on two closely spaced heels and high plinths, with corner griffes. This particularity, as well as the profile of the mouldings, would seem to accord with the second half of the 15th century more than the beginning of the 16th, but one must account for local archaisms.
