La "villa d'Alayrac" est mentionnée dans le cartulaire de Gellone à partie de 804. Au 17e siècle, un prieur desservant y résidait et l'évêque de Montpellier en était titulaire. L'église fut agrandie en 1880. Il ne subsiste de l'édifice primitif que l'abside semi-circulaire du 11e siècle et l'arc triomphal. L'édifice orienté est à nef unique de trois travées. La première travée est flanquée de deux chapelles semi-circulaires voûtées en cul de four. La nef est couverte de trois travées de fausses voûtes d'arêtes séparées par des arcs doubleaux qui prennent appui sur des piliers rectangulaires. A l'extérieur, le chevet semi-circulaire est rythmé par quatre lezènes.

History
The "villa d'Alayrac" is mentioned in the cartulary of Gellone from 804 onwards. In the 17th century, a prior in charge of it resided there and the bishop of Montpellier was its titular. The church was enlarged in 1880. From the primitive building there subsists only the semicircular apse of the 11th century and the triumphal arch. The building is oriented with a single nave of three bays. The first bay is flanked by two semicircular chapels with apse vaults. The nave is covered with three bays of false rib vaults separated by transverse arches which rest on rectangular pillars. On the exterior, the semicircular chevet is articulated by four lesenes.
