Between 1838 and 1859, a chrysalis workshop is built. It presumably treated cocoons of silkworms which were purchased from almost all the inhabitants of the village and the region. In 1880, there is mention of installing in the filature a mill for the combing and degreasing of silk waste. Between 1884 and 1920, a civil engineer, E. Brouilhiet, built three lime kilns and requested authorisation to use the former filature as well as the cement mills for certain operations in the manufacturing of lime and cement. On 22 December 1884, the central board of hygiene gave a favourable opinion on the creation of this "Larocque" factory. Parallel to the development of the works and its transformations, lime kilns opened in the immediate vicinity. The use of the works for the treatment of cement and lime was preceded by the construction of a cement mill on the edge of the Hérault and lime kilns by various individuals.
