Historique

History
Cardinal Léonard Rossi de Giffon, originally from Sicily, general of the Franciscan order, is said to have built this palace around 1380. Nothing remains of this palace except the tower and the adjoining wings. A covered passage, against the tower and to the right, leads to the left towards a large courtyard and, further on and to the right, towards the gardens. This passage probably replaced, when the right façade was refurbished, an old covered passage, perhaps under timber beams. Some windows with trilobed tracery; windows with mullions. The façade of the east wing has been remodelled. The other façades on court present no visible element that can be connected to 14th-century construction. The left wing comprises, on the upper storey, the Banqueting Hall which occupied it entirely and extended into the tower with which it communicated by a large opening. The tower retains two rooms at the top, access to which is by a 17th-century stone staircase. The highest, situated directly under the roof structure, was the watch room and served as a guardhouse.
