Historique
L'hôtel de ville primitif, situé de l'autre côté de la ville, avait été détruit par une explosion de barils de poudre en 1763 déclenchée par la foudre. L'édifice actuel fut construit d'après les plans de l'architecte Boudon. Pour le construire, une partie des remparts fut abattue et sur leur base fut construite la façade nord du bâtiment. Commencé en 1767, le bâtiment fut achevé en 1773. La façade nord a été reprise en 1900 à partir du premier étage, et complètement transformée. La façade sud se compose d'une partie centrale et de deux ailes disposées en carré et encadrant une cour intérieure. Les fenêtres sont encadrées de pilastres ioniques qui soutiennent un entablement supportant lui-même un fronton triangulaire dont la base a la largeur des trois fenêtres constituant le motif central. Deux ailes complètent cette façade. Ces ailes limitent un perron de cinq marches. La cour intérieure est entourée d'une galerie semblable à un cloître. Trois arcades à agrafes à la clé de voûte, s'ouvrent dans le sens de la largeur et cinq dans le sens de la longueur. Au premier étage, une deuxième galerie faisait également le tour complet de la cour. Cette galerie est éclairée par des fenêtres qui surmontaient les arcades du rez-de-chaussée.

History
The primitive town hall, situated on the other side of the town, had been destroyed by an explosion of barrels of gunpowder in 1763 triggered by lightning. The present building was constructed according to the plans of architect Boudon. To build it, part of the ramparts was demolished and the north façade of the building was constructed on their base. Begun in 1767, the building was completed in 1773. The north façade was redone from the first floor upwards in 1900 and completely transformed. The south façade consists of a central part and two wings arranged in a square and framing an interior courtyard. The windows are framed by Ionic pilasters which support an entablature supporting itself a triangular pediment whose base has the width of the three windows constituting the central motif. Two wings complete this façade. These wings limit a perron of five steps. The interior courtyard is surrounded by a gallery similar to a cloister. Three arcades with stone voussoir keys open in the width direction and five in the length direction. On the first floor, a second gallery also went completely around the courtyard. This gallery is lit by windows which overtopped the ground-floor arcades.
