Historique

History
The crypt undoubtedly dates back to the earliest times of Christianity. It is an excavation hollowed out of the rock, partly covered, partly open to the sky, discovered again for the first time in the 17th century. This excavation could have served as a sanctuary for Christians during periods of persecution. One of the walls displays roughly sculpted figures, perhaps Christ on the Cross or a praying figure. The crypt also contains an inscription "cato in uses fuit".
