Ce faubourg de Nîmes était autrefois uniquement occupé par des jardins. Les habitations se groupaient plus au sud, autour du Puits de l'Olivier, et les constructions de quelque importance s'élevaient, à partir du 18e siècle, en bordure des nouvelles Promenades. La construction en cet endroit d'un hôtel important constituait donc une singularité. L'immeuble est délimité par un trapèze. La façade sur rue, encadrée par deux tours carrées, est précédée par une cour d'entrée, limitée par deux pavillons à terrasses contre lesquels prend appui la grande grille en fer forgé. Le portail, en ferronnerie, à deux vantaux, s'ouvre dans l'axe de cette grille, entre deux pilastres, sous un fronton. Le mur de façade et les tourelles sont surmontés, comme les pavillons d'entrée, par une balustrade continue. Cette terrasse est supportée par un péristyle à quatre colonnes, sur hauts stylobate, portant des chapiteaux composites. La frise est décorée de rinceaux. A l'ombre de cette colonnade classique, un escalier d'accès se développe. La rampe, à balustres de pierre, part de pilastres surmontés de lions assis.

History
This suburb of Nîmes was formerly occupied only by gardens. The dwellings were grouped further to the south, around the Puits de l'Olivier, and constructions of any importance were built, from the 18th century onwards, along the edges of the new Promenades. The construction of an important hôtel in this place was therefore a singularity. The building is bounded by a trapezium. The façade on the street, framed by two square towers, is preceded by an entrance courtyard, limited by two pavilions with terraces against which leans the large wrought-iron gate. The portal, in ironwork, with two leaves, opens in the axis of this gate, between two pilasters, under a pediment. The façade wall and the turrets are topped, like the entrance pavilions, with a continuous balustrade. This terrace is supported by a peristyle of four columns, on high stylobate, bearing composite capitals. The frieze is decorated with rinceaux. In the shadow of this classical colonnade, an access staircase develops. The ramp, with stone balusters, departs from pilasters surmounted by seated lions.
