Historique
Le plan du château est celui d'une grande composition avec bâtiments et galeries formant cour d'honneur et conduisant jusqu'à l'entrée principale dans l'axe de la composition. Le château est formé de quatre corps de bâtiment entourant des cours, courette et le vieux donjon (13e siècle). Les façades est et sud présentent un motif central couronné d'un fronton triangulaire. La tour centrale aurait des bases romaines. Du château médiéval subsistent encore la cour de la citerne, une partie des remparts et quelques salles de l'aile nord. La demeure classique est précédée d'une cour d'honneur. Une restauration générale fut réalisée en 1853. A l'intérieur, le grand escalier a conservé ses peintures en trompe-l'oeil en camaïeu, représentant Louis XIV et ses maréchaux. La salle à manger possède une fontaine murale et des lambris Louis XVI encadrant des toiles. Sur le plan historique, le château a reçu saint François d'Assise, Saint-Louis, Louis XIII, Richelieu et Louis XIV.

History
The plan of the castle is that of a large composition with buildings and galleries forming a courtyard of honour and leading to the main entrance on the axis of the composition. The castle is formed of four ranges of buildings surrounding courtyards, a small courtyard and the old keep (13th century). The east and south facades present a central motif crowned by a triangular pediment. The central tower would have Roman foundations. From the medieval castle there still remain the cistern courtyard, part of the ramparts and a few rooms of the north wing. The classical dwelling is preceded by a courtyard of honour. A general restoration was carried out in 1853. Inside, the grand staircase has retained its trompe-l'oeil paintings in monochrome, representing Louis XIV and his marshals. The dining room possesses a wall fountain and Louis XVI panelling framing canvases. From a historical standpoint, the castle received Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Louis, Louis XIII, Richelieu and Louis XIV.
