Historique
Ancienne paroisse du diocèse de Nîmes. L'église était le siège d'un prieuré, simple et séculier, d'abord sous la dépendance du chapitre cathédral de Nîmes, puis uni en 1740 à la mense du séminaire et collège d'Alais. L'édifice se compose d'une nef unique de deux travées, prolongée par une abside demi-circulaire, sans travée ni rappel de choeur. Aucune chapelle latérale. Sacristie moderne au nord de la première travée. La nef est voûtée d'un berceau sur doubleau. Le sanctuaire, appareillé en cul de four, est précédé par un arc en plein cintre, à double rouleau. La nef est beaucoup plus élevée que le sanctuaire. La porte principale a conservé son emplacement primitif. Au-dessus du mur du fond se trouve le clocher-mur à une arcade d'aspect moderne, probablement un ancien clocheton réparé. L'ensemble peut être daté de la fin du 11e ou du 12e siècle.

History
Former parish of the diocese of Nîmes. The church was the seat of a priory, simple and secular, first under the dependence of the cathedral chapter of Nîmes, then united in 1740 to the endowment of the seminary and college of Alais. The building comprises a single nave of two bays, extended by a semi-circular apse, without choir bay or choir recall. No lateral chapels. Modern sacristy to the north of the first bay. The nave is vaulted with a barrel vault on a rib. The sanctuary, constructed as a cul-de-four, is preceded by a round-arched arch, with double roll. The nave is much higher than the sanctuary. The main door has retained its original position. Above the back wall is found the bell tower with one arcade of modern appearance, probably an old small bell tower repaired. The whole may be dated to the end of the 11th or the 12th century.
