Historique
La première mention date de 1265. En 1424, fondation du prieuré de l'Ermitage de Notre-Dame de Carsan par le sénéchal de Beaucaire. En 1650, le prieuré est ruiné par les guerres de Religion. En 1714, réfection de la nef. En 1863, le curé fait orner l'église de peintures murales, ouvre des fenêtres dans l'abside et fait construire le clocher imitant la tour Fenestrelle d'Uzès. L'église est de style roman, à plan cruciforme orienté, avec une abside principale et deux absidioles voûtées en cul de four. Une coupole couvre la croisée du transept. Clocheton ancien au sud du transept. La chapelle nord (bras nord du transept) constitue le noyau ancien, antérieur à 1424. Le choeur actuel et la nef ont été bâtis au début du 15e siècle. Le clocher date du 19e siècle.

History
The first mention dates from 1265. In 1424, foundation of the priory of the Hermitage of Notre-Dame de Carsan by the seneschal of Beaucaire. In 1650, the priory is ruined by the Wars of Religion. In 1714, refurbishment of the nave. In 1863, the curate has the church decorated with mural paintings, opens windows in the apse and has the bell tower built imitating the Fenestrelle tower at Uzès. The church is Romanesque in style, with a cruciform orientated plan, with a main apse and two apsidoles vaulted in a half dome. A cupola covers the crossing of the transept. Old small bell turret to the south of the transept. The north chapel (north arm of the transept) constitutes the old nucleus, prior to 1424. The present choir and nave were built at the beginning of the 15th century. The bell tower dates from the 19th century.
