The church, mentioned in 1269, is qualified as parochial in the 14th century. In 1589, supporters of Joyeuse commanded by the Spaniard Don Pedro Pachaco were besieged in the church by the troops of Mirepoix who had to withdraw for lack of sufficient means of assault. Blackened stones would testify to the fire lit to attempt to smoke them out. The church has been disused since the construction of a larger building and has been sold to a private individual. The construction is powerful (nave walls measuring two metres in thickness at the base). To the west, the single bay of the nave is vaulted in round arch and decorated with an interior cornice. The two other bays of the building, with rib vaults, correspond to the transept and the sanctuary. Adjoining the west wall of the nave, the square bell tower is not situated on the axis but to the south, so that its southern wall extends that of the nave. Access is by a small spiral staircase situated in an interior angle. It provides access, above the vaults, to a fairly spacious room, well defended laterally by the extensions of the walls, pierced with numerous ventilation openings. This room was probably used in times of siege. The second storey of the bell tower is pierced with two large round-arch openings per face. At the upper angles are four gargoyles.
