The date of foundation of this oratory is unknown. Parishioners went there on the day of Rogations and the Sunday after the Feast of the Invention of the Cross. In a description of the monument dating from 1893, an old cross that had disappeared is mentioned as replaced by a cross taken from the cemetery and dated 1652. The oratory is found at the intersection of two old roads: the path from Pieusse to Saint-André and to Pomas and the path leading to a ford for the crossing of the Aude. Before the creation of this ford, the Aude was crossed by ford at this precise spot and, on the other bank, at the place called Pont-du-Sou, there existed a small chapel now disappeared. Given the dangers of the crossing, travellers had to make devotions or offerings in these small chapels. Such could be the justification for the presence of this oratory. The building consists of four equal pillars, radially arranged at the angles of a slightly irregular quadrilateral. The diagonal arcs, with blunted corners, intersect over a cruciform keystone. The wall arches, in pointed arch with vertical joint at the top, rest, as do the diagonals, on broad bevelled imposts with returns. The whole is covered with slates and the pillars rise above to end in a roof shape. The cross is set on a circular base. A square pillar passes to an octagon by flat corners. The pillar was topped with a cross of circular section, decorated with shells in relief and bearing an inscription mentioning the year 1652.
