Entrée principale de Laure, du côté de Carcassonne. C'était le principal passage pour aller vers le château après avoir traversé un passage entre deux tours. Il ne reste plus trace de ces dernières ni du château. La tour s'ouvre par une entrée plein cintre. La voûte n'est pas fermée par une clé. Au milieu de la voûte, sur une pièce plus blanche sont représentées les armoiries de la ville. De chaque côté de la porte se trouve l'emplacement des chaînes faisant fonctionner le pont-levis. Entre le grand arceau et l'arc intérieur se trouve une galerie verticale pour remonter la herse et permettre de jeter des matériaux sur les assiégeants. A la partie supérieure se voient trois créneaux rectangulaires sur les grands faces et deux sur les faces latérales. Au niveau des remparts, des portes sont établies pour faire communiquer les chemins de ronde avec la tour. A quelque distance des créneaux se voient les trous des poutrelles supportant les hourds.

History
Main entrance to Laure, on the side of Carcassonne. It was the principal passage to go towards the castle after crossing a passage between two towers. No trace remains of the latter nor of the castle. The tower opens by a round-arched entrance. The vault is not closed by a keystone. In the middle of the vault, on a lighter-coloured stone are represented the arms of the town. On each side of the door is found the location of the chains operating the drawbridge. Between the great arch and the inner arch is found a vertical gallery to raise the portcullis and allow material to be thrown down on besiegers. At the upper part are seen three rectangular crenellations on the large faces and two on the lateral faces. At the level of the ramparts, doors are placed to make the wall walks communicate with the tower. At some distance from the crenellations are seen the holes for the small beams supporting the hourds.
