Le gué de Greffeil étant devenu peu à peu impraticable à la suite d'une série d'inondations, les habitants de la localité réclamèrent chaque année, à partir de 1724, la construction d'un pont. Un délégué fut désigné par leur soin pour présenter annuellement cette requête à l'assemblée du diocèse. Il fallut attendre une série d'accidents graves pour que l'Assiette adoptât, en 1761, le principe d'une participation. L'ouvrage est à trois arches, deux en plein cintre encadrant une arche centrale en anse de panier. Les voûtes sont entièrement appareillées. Les piles sont prolongées, vers l'amont comme vers l'aval, par des becs arrondis. Les évitements ne reproduisent pas le profil des becs mais se réduisent à des trapèzes, peu saillants hors parapets, mais plus larges que les piles. Leur départ des éperons se fait en encorbellement. Les culées, plus larges, se raccordent au pont par des murs cylindriques. Les parapets ont soigneusement été constitués par de gros blocs.

History
The ford of Greffeil having become gradually impassable following a series of floods, the inhabitants of the locality demanded each year, from 1724 onwards, the construction of a bridge. A delegate was designated by their care to present this request annually to the diocesan assembly. It took a series of serious accidents for the Assiette to adopt, in 1761, the principle of a contribution. The structure has three arches, two round arches framing a central arch in the form of a basket handle. The vaults are entirely coursed. The piers are extended, both upstream and downstream, by rounded cutwaters. The refuges do not reproduce the profile of the cutwaters but are reduced to trapezoids, little projecting beyond the parapets, but wider than the piers. Their departure from the spurs is done in corbelling. The abutments, wider, connect to the bridge by cylindrical walls. The parapets have carefully been constituted by large blocks.
