Cette dépendance de l'abbaye de Caunes est mentionnée sous la dénomination de "castrum" en 1183 et 1189. Le château apparaît plutôt comme une maison fortifiée, utilisant une position naturelle très forte. Bâti au sommet d'un escarpement rocheux, il se présente comme un quadrilatère avec trois côtés rectangulaires et un oblique. Le côté nord-ouest est au sommet d'une falaise verticale. L'entrée se fait par le sud, à deux mètres au-dessus du sol extérieur. History
This dependency of the abbey of Caunes is mentioned under the name of "castrum" in 1183 and 1189. The château appears rather as a fortified house, utilising a very strong natural position. Built at the summit of a rocky escarpment, it presents itself as a quadrilateral with three rectangular sides and one oblique. The north-west side is at the summit of a vertical cliff. Entry is made from the south, two metres above the external ground level. It is defended by a bretèche resting on high corbels of schist by means of a large schist lintel, leaving a free opening for attack. At the south corner, a turret is built in a similar way, on five corbels. The turret at the north corner, round, is in corbelling on a circular schist base. A few metres to the east, on a platform which must have been enclosed by walls and dependent on the château, the rock is hollowed out with a rectangular silo.
