Historique

History
The foundation of the convent of the Cassès would predate 1333. Pope John XXII, whose pontificate falls between 1316 and 1334, authorised there the substitution of the rule of Saint Clare for that of Saint Benedict. The church must have existed before 1365 but various aspects of its construction cast doubt on whether it goes back to 1322, the date of the installation of the convent. At the Revolution, the buildings were put up for auction. The nave has entirely disappeared as have the monastic buildings. Nothing remains of the church except the sanctuary and a chapel. The sanctuary is pentagonal. Of the three large openings which lit the sanctuary, only one has retained roughly its tracery. It is a tall window with two trefoil forms, under a trefoil, with undercut cusps. The chapel, attached to the first bay of the nave, forms a transept. At the outset of the ruined wall of the nave, between the wall facings, the filling consists of small-sized stones and fat mortar.
