The pillars are approximately square and decorated, at the springings of the arcs, with moulded imposts, not ramps, constituted by an astragal, a fillet, a quarter-round and a listel. The string is moulded on both sides by a cavetto, a fillet and a cyma. The handrail is in wrought iron. This ironwork consists of a series of flat vertical bars, alternately straight and undulating. The intervals are filled with opposed spiral volutes. The pitch of the handrail is recalled by the regular undulation of the upper spiral of the filling. The staircase opens onto a second courtyard.
