Historique
Le château appartenait aux seigneurs de Bar. Il n'en subsiste plus que quelques pans de murs très dérasés, contigus au côté nord du choeur de la chapelle, ancienne église paroissiale. Celle-ci, avec le clocher, est tout ce qui subsiste de l'édifice. Le choeur ruiné, voûté, constitue aujourd'hui le motif principal de cet ensemble. La nef était probablement couverte par une charpente apparente portée à la mode languedocienne, par des arcs doubleaux. Dans le choeur, la surface a été augmentée par cinq enfoncements voûtés en berceau. Le voisinage des maîtres d'oeuvre de Carcassonne se révèle dans le tracé plus savant qu'ailleurs du profil des arcs diagonaux portant les six compartiments de la voûte. A l'angle sud du choeur se rattache un clocher carré dont l'étage du cadran et la flèche ne sont pas d'origine.

History
The castle belonged to the lords of Bar. Only a few very reduced wall sections remain, contiguous to the north side of the chevet of the chapel, the former parish church. This, with the bell tower, is all that remains of the building. The ruined, vaulted chevet constitutes today the principal feature of this ensemble. The nave was probably covered by exposed roof structure carried in the Languedoc manner by double arches. In the chevet, the surface has been increased by five barrel-vaulted recesses. The proximity of the master masons of Carcassonne is revealed in the more sophisticated design than elsewhere of the profile of the diagonal arches carrying the six compartments of the vault. At the south angle of the chevet is attached a square bell tower whose dial stage and spire are not original.
