Le castrum d'Aragon apparaît dans les documents en 1287. La seigneurie, qui appartenait au roi depuis la croisade albigeoise, fut inféodée à des seigneurs successifs. History
The castrum of Aragon appears in documents in 1287. The seigneury, which had belonged to the king since the Albigensian Crusade, was invested in successive lords. The castle is a building with axial symmetry, with interior courtyard. The façade on the square extends between two square towers. The entrance door, at the centre, was originally defended by a bretèche situated at the second floor and of which only the two double corbels in quarter-round remain. At the same period, the entrance door was widened and framed by two columns placed on plinths decorated with diamond points. The entablature has disappeared. In the courtyard, there remains almost intact only the large flat arch which supported the gallery of the first floor. Subsequently, the façade on the square was embellished by a gallery with three arcades, no doubt at the time of the creation of the parterre which formed its natural complement. This parterre existed around 1750.
