Correspondant à une des plus anciennes communautés chrétiennes du Jura, cet édifice est aussi une des premières églises romanes de ce département. Elle conserve encore un ensemble de parties d'origine, dont la crypte de la première moitié du 11e siècle. L'église date du 12e siècle ; elle a été remaniée postérieurement : chapelles encadrant le portail occidental construites de 1484 à 1502 ; choeur reconstruit après l'incendie de 1595 ; clocher établi en 1604 ; nef voûtée après l'incendie de 1624 ; chapelles latérales du 17e siècle. Arasement du clocher en 1795, démolition des chapelles occidentales et de la première travée de la nef en 1809. Portail nord bâti en 1845, clocher reconstruit en 1880, portail néo-roman à l'entrée occidentale vers 1900. Sous le choeur, la crypte abrite le sarcophage de Saint-Désiré dans son abside.

History
Corresponding to one of the oldest Christian communities in the Jura, this building is also one of the first Romanesque churches in this department. It still preserves a set of original parts, including the crypt from the first half of the 11th century. The church dates from the 12th century; it was subsequently altered: chapels flanking the western portal built from 1484 to 1502; choir rebuilt after the fire of 1595; bell tower established in 1604; nave vaulted after the fire of 1624; lateral chapels of the 17th century. Levelling of the bell tower in 1795, demolition of the western chapels and of the first bay of the nave in 1809. North portal built in 1845, bell tower rebuilt in 1880, neo-Romanesque portal at the western entrance around 1900. Beneath the choir, the crypt houses the sarcophagus of Saint-Désiré in its apse.
