History

The seigniory of la Forêt has existed since at least 1110. Situated in the midst of meadows, gardens, copses and a pond, the main dwelling has retained its trapezoidal enclosure with rectangular or round towers, one of which was transformed into a dovecot with stone dome in the 17th century. The noble residence was heavily transformed until the 19th century, so that nothing medieval remains except the spiral staircase and two accolade doors with Gothic mouldings. The outbuildings, situated against the enclosure, to the west, have retained their old character with the oven and two stone fireplaces from the late 15th century. A room fitted out in the outbuilding adjoining the main dwelling is entirely covered with panoramic wallpaper dating from the first third of the 19th century, of the "Monuments of Paris" type.
