Edifice appartenant à un prieuré relevant de l'abbaye de Luçon, en Vendée. Selon la tradition, il serait bâti à l'emplacement d'une fondation datant au moins du début du 8e siècle. Cette église présente un curieux exemple de sanctuaire à déambulatoire sans chapelles rayonnantes, solidaire d'une nef dépourvue de bas-côtés. Les arcades du déambulatoire, tracées en arc brisé exhaussé, retombent sur des piliers quadrilobés, à l'exception de ceux qui se situent à l'entrée du choeur. Un cul de four et un berceau brisé couvrent l'abside, tandis qu'un berceau tournant à doubleaux voûte le déambulatoire. History
Building belonging to a priory under the abbey of Luçon, in Vendée. According to tradition, it would be built on the site of a foundation dating to at least the early 8th century. This church presents a curious example of a sanctuary with deambulatory without radiating chapels, integral to a nave devoid of aisles. The arcades of the deambulatory, traced in a raised pointed arch, rest on quadrilobed pillars, with the exception of those situated at the entrance of the choir. A squinch and a pointed barrel vault cover the apse, while a barrel vault turning on ribs vaults the deambulatory. The junction of the choir with the nave is effected by three arcades open to the front, carried by two strong pillars with eight columns fused together. A roof structure from the 15th century, with chamfered angles, ten crossbeams and ten curved struts, covers the nave. The lateral bell tower, square, flanked by a turret, occupies a position on the first southern bay of the deambulatory.
