Ce château a été édifié dans la première moitié du 18e siècle dans le style classique, pour Albert-Louis Asselin, conseiller du roi Louis XV, qui avait épousé Marie-Anne Romé, fille du baron du Bec. Sa fille a épousé en 1749 Armand Thomas Hue, marquis de Miromesnil, qui fut Garde des Sceaux du roi Louis XVI de 1774 à 1787. L'édifice, précédé d'une avenue bordée d'une triple rangée d'arbres, est implanté entre une cour d'honneur limitée par des douves sèches et des jardins avec saut-de-loup dans l'axe. Il comprend un corps de logis central de plan rectangulaire cantonné de deux ailes en pavillon formant décrochement sur les deux façades. L'ensemble est clos de murs. Au nord subsiste l'ancienne chapelle devenue église paroissiale. Il est prolongé au sud par une aile de service et un bâtiment des offices qui commande la cour des communs. Ce domaine de grand parlementaire d'Ancien Régime est conservé dans sa quasi-totalité en composition générale et en élévation.

History
This castle was built in the first half of the 18th century in the classical style, for Albert-Louis Asselin, counsellor of King Louis XV, who had married Marie-Anne Romé, daughter of the Baron du Bec. His daughter married in 1749 Armand Thomas Hue, Marquis de Miromesnil, who was Keeper of the Seals of King Louis XVI from 1774 to 1787. The building, preceded by an avenue bordered by a triple row of trees, is implanted between a court of honour bounded by dry moats and gardens with ha-ha in axis. It comprises a central main dwelling of rectangular plan flanked by two pavilion wings forming recession on both façades. The whole is enclosed by walls. To the north the former chapel survives, now a parish church. It is extended to the south by a service wing and an offices building which commands the outbuildings courtyard. This estate of a great parliamentarian of the Old Regime is preserved in its near-totality in general composition and elevation.
