History

The church appears to date, according to the architecture, from the end of the 11th or beginning of the 12th century, with the addition in the 15th century of lateral chapels of the nave by unknown donors. The prior of Saint-Jean de Côle appointed the rectors at least until 1566. The building takes the form of a Latin cross. It is composed of a single nave which was covered with a wattle ceiling, collapsed, of a transept with transepts covered with a slightly pointed barrel vault with, at the crossing, a dome on curved pendentives. It terminates in a flat chevet vaulted with a pointed barrel vault. At the crossing of the transept is the octagonal bell tower, on two levels. At the last level, each face is pierced by a tall round arch opening, some of which are furnished with patterns of bricks. This bell tower had been redone at the end of the 17th or beginning of the 18th century.
