Historique
La tradition rapporte qu'avant leur fermeture, une lampe brûlait continuellement entre les arcades, la nuit. Le plan se compose d'un carré ouvert sur l'extérieur par quatre arcades, murées au 18e siècle. Les quatre supports sont formés chacun de deux pilastres qui se rencontrent à angle droit, et d'un faisceau de trois colonnettes engagées dans l'angle rentrant des pilastres. Différentes sculptures correspondent aux quatre chapiteaux des supports. Les colonnettes supportaient les croisées d'ogives dont il subsiste le premier claveau formé de trois tores accolés. History
Tradition reports that before their closure, a lamp burned continuously between the arcades, at night. The plan consists of a square open to the outside by four arcades, walled up in the 18th century. The four supports are each formed of two pilasters which meet at right angles, and of a bundle of three colonnettes engaged in the right angle of the pilasters. Different sculptures correspond to the four capitals of the supports. The colonnettes supported the rib vaults of which the first voussoir remains, formed of three adjoined tori. The wooden vault was added at a later date. The current chapel could have been, originally, a lantern of the dead. The vault could have supported a stone lantern, pierced with openings. It could also have served as an oradour, an open aedicula sheltering a cross and situated in cemeteries.
