Historique
Edifice de plan octogonal, servant de marché couvert, construit en 1919 à l'instigation du département et cédé à la ville de Limoges en 1921. Réalisé en béton armé, il est conçu par l'architecte Roger Gonthier. La décoration extérieure de mosaïque et de grès cérame est l'oeuvre de la maison Gentil et Bourdet, de Boulogne-Billancourt. A l'intérieur, la décoration est peinte par le limougeaud Léonard Chigot (père du maître-verrier Francis Chigot). De 1942 à 1976, le pavillon est utilisé comme gare routière. Il est restauré en 1978 par la ville de Limoges et transformé en pavillon municipal d'exposition, dit Pavillon du Verdurier. Le sous-sol abrite des vitraux de Francis Chigot, installés après l'exposition consacrée à ce maître-verrier en 1980.

History
Building of octagonal plan, serving as a covered market, built in 1919 at the instigation of the department and ceded to the city of Limoges in 1921. Realised in reinforced concrete, it is designed by architect Roger Gonthier. The exterior decoration of mosaic and stoneware is the work of the firm Gentil et Bourdet, of Boulogne-Billancourt. Inside, the decoration is painted by the Limoges-born Léonard Chigot (father of the master glassworker Francis Chigot). From 1942 to 1976, the pavilion is used as a bus station. It is restored in 1978 by the city of Limoges and transformed into a municipal exhibition pavilion, called the Pavillon du Verdurier. The basement houses stained-glass windows by Francis Chigot, installed after the exhibition devoted to this master glassworker in 1980.
