Historique

History
This building could be attributed to architect Joseph Brousseau and was used as a school by the order of the Daughters of Charity. It is a building of rectangular plan with, on the ground floor, a vestibule in the axis of the two doors opened at the centre of each facade, which serves the rooms situated on either side and leads to the stairwell. On the first floor, a large landing plays the same role. On the courtyard side, the facade presents a classical elevation, at three levels. An important cornice with dentils underlines the top of the facade surmounted by an attic. Uniformity is avoided by the different size of the openings of the third level and by the decoration with prominent relief that surmounts the architrave of the windows. The facade on the street presents the same arrangement as the facade on the courtyard. Inside, the staircase presents a wrought iron ramp decorated with two repeating motifs and different motifs at the landings and twists. The rooms on the ground floor are decorated with moulded woodwork.
