Villa royale sous les Mérovingiens, la terre du Saillant - Orbaciacus - fut par la suite vassale de l'Eglise, dépendant au 9e siècle de l'abbaye de Beaulieu et, à partir du 11e siècle, de l'évêque de Limoges. La construction rectangulaire du 15e siècle englobe les vestiges d'un donjon primitif et devait être à l'origine cantonnée de tours d'angle. Les puissants corbeaux en pierre qui soutiennent le débord de la toiture proviennent des anciens mâchicoulis amputés de leur partie supérieure et adaptés à leur nouveau rôle. Les caves conservent des vestiges du donjon primitif avec ouvertures en arc légèrement brisé ou en plein cintre. Au rez-de-chaussée, le hall possède une cheminée monumentale dont la hotte est ornée de peintures murales. Constructions échelonnées du 17e au 20e siècle : baies, comble à la Mansard, charpentes de la grange et de la bergerie du 17e siècle.

History
Royal villa under the Merovingians, the land of Saillant - Orbaciacus - was subsequently a vassal of the Church, depending in the 9th century on the abbey of Beaulieu and, from the 11th century, on the bishop of Limoges. The rectangular construction of the 15th century encloses the remains of a primitive keep and was originally to be flanked at the angles by towers. The powerful stone corbels which support the roof overhang come from the old machicolations deprived of their upper part and adapted to their new role. The cellars preserve remains of the primitive keep with openings in slightly pointed or round arch. On the ground floor, the hall has a monumental fireplace whose hood is ornamented with mural paintings. Buildings staggered from the 17th to the 20th century: openings, Mansard roof, roof structures of the barn and sheepfold of the 17th century.
