The ruins are the remains of a small fortified square, of a castellany or group of castles which, according to tradition, were the property of various lords and served as a refuge for the inhabitants in time of war. As a whole, the constructions appear to date from the 14th century, but could also date from an earlier period. The elements making up these ruins would be as follows: barn occupying, according to tradition, the site of the second chapel Sainte-Anne built in 1674; site of the house called Veilhan; site of the drawbridge of Veilhan of which an abutment still exists; castle; house of Fulcon de Merle (1365); presumed castle of the commander of Saint-Léger; presumed castle of the prior of Saint-Léger; presumed remains of the castle of Saint-Bauzire; tower of Noailles; tower of Pestel; house of the guard of the bridge of which the ruined piers still exist.
