History
Built on a promontory, this castle was considered one of the most powerful of its era. Constructed in the 11th century, reworked from the 13th to the 15th, this fortress commanded the viscounty of Ventadour. Sold at the Revolution as national property, the castle was destroyed from the 19th century by demolition contractors. In this castle lived Ebles II "Lo Cantador", viscount of Ventadour, and Bernard of Ventadour the troubadour was born.
