Historique
Castel ayant appartenu à la famille des Vassinhac, anciens gouverneurs de la vicomté de Turenne aux 16e et 17e siècles. Vaste logis construit au 16e (une des tours porte le millésime 1583) formé de deux bâtiments en équerre comportant rez-de-chaussée et deux étages. Dans l'angle rentrant s'élève une tourelle polygonale abritant l'escalier principal en vis. A l'extrémité sud-ouest se trouve une tourelle avec un escalier secondaire. Le bâtiment orienté nord-sud est flanqué à chaque extrémité d'une tourelle en poivrière supportée par un encorbellement mouluré. L'accès à l'escalier principal s'effectue par une porte à deux vanteaux encadrée de moulures prismatiques qui se croisent en accolade et aboutissent à un fleuron central et se terminent, sur les côtés, en pinacles ornés de crochets. Les fenêtres qui éclairent l'escalier sont également ornées d'accolades, et divisées par une traverse en pierre. A l'intérieur, les grandes pièces du logis ont été dépouillées de leurs cheminées. History
Castel which belonged to the Vassinhac family, former governors of the viscounty of Turenne in the 16th and 17th centuries. Vast main dwelling built in the 16th century (one of the towers bears the date 1583) formed of two buildings at right angles comprising ground floor and two storeys. In the re-entrant angle rises a polygonal turret housing the main spiral staircase. At the south-west end is a turret with a secondary staircase. The building oriented north-south is flanked at each end by a pepperpot turret supported by a moulded corbel. Access to the main staircase is effected by a two-leaf door framed by prismatic mouldings which cross in a Gothic arch and lead to a central fleuron and terminate, on the sides, in pinnacles decorated with crockets. The windows lighting the staircase are also ornamented with Gothic arches and divided by a stone transom. Inside, the large rooms of the dwelling have been stripped of their fireplaces. The roofs are in large rough slates of the country.
