Les bâtiments ont été construits de 1659 à 1671 pour être affectés au collège communal fondé par Antoine de Lestang, président à mortier du parlement de Toulouse, qui avait légué sa demeure aux Pères de la doctrine chrétienne. En 1673, la demeure voisine appartenant à Etienne de Polverel, évêque d'Aleth, fut annexée au collège et l'aile gauche agrandie. Le collège est composé d'un corps de bâtiment principal parallèle à la rue et de deux ailes perpendiculaires. L'aile gauche est occupée en grande partie par la chapelle. A l'intérieur, dans le pavillon situé à l'angle de l'aile droite et du corps principal, se trouve un escalier monumental dont les volées sont soutenues par des arcs. L'ensemble des bâtiments est construit en grès de Grammont, hormis les colonnes décorant le mur sur rue, exécutées en calcaire. Aux extrémités droite et gauche du mur se trouvent deux parties saillantes en forme de tourelles. Ce portail monumental donne accès à une cour d'honneur carrée.

History
The buildings were constructed from 1659 to 1671 to be allocated to the municipal school founded by Antoine de Lestang, président à mortier of the parliament of Toulouse, who had bequeathed his residence to the Fathers of the Christian Doctrine. In 1673, the neighbouring house belonging to Etienne de Polverel, bishop of Aleth, was annexed to the school and the left wing enlarged. The school is composed of a main building section parallel to the street and two perpendicular wings. The left wing is occupied in large part by the chapel. Inside, in the pavilion situated at the corner of the right wing and the main section, is found a monumental staircase whose flights are supported by arches. The whole of the buildings is constructed in Grammont sandstone, except for the columns decorating the wall on the street, executed in limestone. At the right and left extremities of the wall are found two projecting sections in the form of turrets. This monumental gateway gives access to a square courtyard of honour.
