History
This abbey was founded in 1034. It experienced great intellectual influence from the 11th century. The present buildings were rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries by the monks of the congregation of Saint-Maur; they are arranged around a vast courtyard which adjoins the cloister. The Saint-Nicolas tower is a vestige from the 15th century. The abbey was used as a military stable during the 19th century; it has been occupied since 1948 by a community of Benedictine monks.
