History
The site contains the ruined buildings of the chapel and the baptistry, as well as the substructures of a primitive sanctuary. The church of Sainte-Marie de Riscanone, built in the 5th century on the site of a Roman city, is said to have been rebuilt and enlarged between the 6th and 9th centuries. Its definitive aspect must date from the 12th century. A few metres from the church, the octagonal baptistry of Saint-Jean-Baptiste was built in the 12th century.
