En mémoire de la victoire de Hugues Colonna sur les Sarrazins, ce dernier aurait fait bâtir une église dédiée à la Vierge. L'église a été reconstruite à plusieurs reprises (arrière du maître-autel gothique ; façade sans doute Renaissance). L'intérieur se divise en trois nefs, avec des arcades à chapiteaux doriques. Les hauteurs de la nef centrale, endommagées par un incendie, ont été reconstruites en briques. L'édifice servait de siège à l'évêque.

History
In memory of Hugues Colonna's victory over the Saracens, he is said to have had a church built dedicated to the Virgin. The church was rebuilt several times (rear of the Gothic high altar; façade probably Renaissance). The interior is divided into three naves, with arcades with Doric capitals. The heights of the central nave, damaged by fire, were rebuilt in brick. The building served as the seat of the bishop.
