Historique
Chapelle construite dans la 1ère moitié du 17e siècle, fondée par la Compagnie de Jésus et dédiée à l'origine à Saint-Ignace. Elle fut utilisée comme chapelle du collège jusqu'en 1773, date à laquelle les Jésuites furent expulsés. Elle fut ensuite utilisée par le Collège Royal d'Ajaccio, puis, sous la Révolution, comme siège du Directoire du district. ££Cet édifice maniériste s'inspire du Gesu de Rome et présente une façade scandée de pilastres plats et de niches. Chaque niveau est séparé par une épaisse corniche. Elle est couronnée par un fronton triangulaire et percée d'une porte à deux vantaux. Un petit campanile surmonte le côté nord. History
Chapel built in the first half of the 17th century, founded by the Company of Jesus and originally dedicated to Saint Ignatius. It was used as the college chapel until 1773, when the Jesuits were expelled. It was then used by the Royal College of Ajaccio, then, under the Revolution, as the seat of the District Directory. This Mannerist building is inspired by the Gesu in Rome and presents a façade scanned by flat pilasters and niches. Each level is separated by a thick cornice. It is crowned by a triangular pediment and pierced by a two-panel door. A small campanile surmounts the north side. Inside, the building consists of a central nave onto which open two lateral chapels. The choir is separated from the nave by a grille. Painted decoration in neo-classical style.
