Historique
Le château actuel fut édifié au 18e siècle à l'emplacement d'un édifice féodal dont subsistent la ceinture de douves et les murs garnis de meurtrières, ainsi que les soubassements des anciennes tours. Sur une des terrasses entourant le château se trouvent les restes de la vieille église paroissiale du 12e siècle, qui communiquait autrefois avec un monastère situé sur le coteau. Le bras nord du transept a été transformé, au 17e siècle, en chapelle seigneuriale. L'entrée dans la cour du château se fait par un portail à bossages de la fin du 16e ou du 17e siècle. Le portail encadre un porche cintré ouvert longeant le château à gauche, et une orangerie couverte en terrasse à droite. Le corps de bâtiment principal du 18e siècle présente trois avant-corps dont le central est surmonté d'un fronton triangulaire. La porte du rez-de-chaussée est encadrée de colonnes doriques supportant le balcon du premier étage, lui-même prolongé par des pilastres de même style. La façade latérale droite est flanquée d'une tour ronde modifiée au 18e siècle.

History
The present castle was built in the 18th century on the site of a feudal building of which remain the moat and walls furnished with loopholes, as well as the foundations of former towers. On one of the terraces surrounding the castle are the remains of the old parish church of the 12th century, which formerly communicated with a monastery situated on the hillside. The north arm of the transept was transformed in the 17th century into a seigneurial chapel. Entry into the castle courtyard is through a rusticated portal of the late 16th or 17th century. The portal frames a round-arched porch opening onto the left of the castle, and a terrace-roofed orangery on the right. The main building body of the 18th century presents three projecting sections of which the central one is surmounted by a triangular pediment. The ground floor door is framed by Doric columns supporting the first-floor balcony, itself extended by pilasters of the same style. The right lateral façade is flanked by a round tower modified in the 18th century.
