La construction du château commence en 1543 pour se terminer en 1573. L'édifice présente un plan carré féodal avec quatre tours rondes aux angles, des bâtiments sur trois côtés et est flanqué, du côté de l'entrée, de deux tours rondes dont il ne reste que la partie inférieure. La tour ouest est surmontée d'un chemin de ronde décoratif reposant sur de faux mâchicoulis. Un pavillon en retour fait, de chaque côté, un décrochement s'alignant sur les ailes en retour du bâtiment principal. A l'est, le château est relié au pavillon et au bâtiment Henri II par une galerie tardive. Cette partie est traitée en orangerie. Au sud-est du château se trouve le quadrilatère fermé des dépendances.

History
Construction of the castle began in 1543 to finish in 1573. The building presents a feudal square plan with four round towers at the angles, buildings on three sides and is flanked, on the entrance side, by two round towers of which only the lower part remains. The west tower is topped by a decorative parapet walk resting on false machicolations. A return pavilion creates on each side a step back aligning with the return wings of the main building. To the east, the castle is connected to the pavilion and the Henri II building by a later gallery. This part is treated as an orangery. To the south-east of the castle is the closed quadrilateral of the outbuildings.
